Ingredients

Method

  1. Heat a non-stick pan and dry roast the Bulgar Wheat on a medium flame for about 2 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker.
  3. Add the Cumin Seeds and Asafoetida and saute on a medium flame for about half a minute.
  4. Add the Onions and saute them for a minute or two.
  5. Now add the veggies and mix them well.
  6. Cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and stir continuously.
  7. Add the dry roasted Bulgar Wheat with the Ginger Garlic Paste, Red Chili Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt, and 2 Cups of Water.
  8. Mix them well and pressure cook up to 3 whistles.
  9. If you do not own a pressure cooker, you can simply let the mix cook in a pan for about 20 – 30 minutes and make sure to keep the lid closed.
  10. Let go of the steam before you open the lid.
  11. Finally, add 5 Tsps. of water and let it cook on medium flame while you mash the Khichdi lightly.
  12. Serve hot.
