Ingredients

Method

  1. Boil 1¾ cup of water in a deep non-stick pan.
  2. Place the rice flour in a deep bowl and add the boiled water gradually.
  3. Knead into a soft and smooth dough.
  4. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  5. Add ghee to a hot pan.
  6. Sauté jaggery and coconut together, until blended and thick.
  7. Add cardamom powder and take it off the gas.
  8. Keep it to cool.
  9. Grease a Modak mold using very little ghee and close it.
  10. Take a portion of the dough, press it into the cavity of the mold until evenly lined on all sides.
  11. Fill the dough cavity with a portion of the filling.
  12. Seal the bottom of the mold with a small portion of the dough.
  13. Demold the Modak from the mold.
  14. Repeat steps to make more Modaks.
  15. Place a steamer plate in a steamer and place a banana leaf on it.
  16. Moisten the Modaks with a little water.
  17. Place the Modaks on the banana leak and steam for 10 minutes.
  18. Serve warm.
